QUALITY in PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Quality plays an active role in the development of new products by associating
design intentions with historically qualified manufacturing process
capabilities.
QUALITY in PURCHASING
Incoming materials, for example, are purchased from approved suppliers
capable of providing AKRO with sufficient quality documentation to verify
conformance with requirements of the purchase contract.
QUALITY in the CONTROL OF CUSTOMER SUPPLIED
PRODUCT
Quality products and manufacturing efficiencies are directly related
to the condition of tooling. Documented procedures are therefore in
place to control the verification, storage, maintenance and modification
of customer owned molds that are in the care of AKRO/NBP Plastics.
QUALITY in PRODUCTION
Manufacturing procedures are created by the Quality department and distributed
to the shop floor electronically—we’re paperless. Procedures
are therefore designed as living documents, which are quickly updated
with corrective actions and preventive measures in an environment of
continuous improvement—by design.
QUALITY in EDUCATION / PERSONNEL
New employees are to receive introductions to rotational molding with
quality and safety as the focus. The development of the knowledge base
then becomes continuous, enhanced with use of several modern information
transfer systems.
QUALITY in QUALITY
The Cost of Quality is measured and published in house daily. This index
identifies how well we are meeting our objective to assure that business
operations and products best serve the customer-supplier relationship.
All products run at Akro Plastics and New
Berlin have finishing criteria, assembly criteria, and dimensional
criteria documents. These documents all come from the quality assurance
department.
At left are three samples of these documents. Samples
1 and 2 are dimensional criteria documents. These allow for any employee
to check for quality as the parts are being made. Every phase of a
product has quality checks, so any problems can be caught at their
source, eliminating multiple scrap parts.
At left is a sample of a quality alert document. Any time an issue
may arise as to the quality of a part, a quality alert document is
posted at the machines, and in the finishing areas involved. This
makes each employee aware of what to be looking for, as well as their
usual quality checks.
Our quality department continually runs lab tests for flow, impact
tests, and tests to check for wall thickness. When neccessary, pressure
tests with either air or water can be done also to check for leaking.
Akro-Plastics and New Berlin Plastics are committed
to giving the best quality possible in every product we produce.
